1st Preference Mortgage was first Licensed in July 1989, under the laws of Maryland. Within the first two years, 1st Preference became a Full FHA Lender, a VA Automatic Lender; and then finally, an approved Fannie Mae Seller/ Service. As a Lender, and not a Broker, we have the ability to process, approve, and close your loan within the timeframe required by contract. 1st Preference is licensed in 10 states & the District, including Georgia and North Carolina, with offices in nine. 1st Preference has 4 FHA, Direct Endorsement Underwriters; while many of our loans are put through Computerized Underwriting, an equal number of qualified borrowers are also approved because of our personal touch in using Human Underwriting as well. In this same light, 1st Preference believes in having In-house Processors so that every loan is handled like our business depended on it; BUILDING OUR COMPANY, ONE HOUSE AT A TIME! 1st Preference is celebrating our 21st year in business; we are doing something right! Many of our employees have been here 10 years, and some over 15 years. Our dedicated and experienced employees are the main reason for much of our REPEAT BUSINESS in the Real Estate Community. Realtors are a tough bunch to please; they wouldn't have kept us around all these years, if we didn't do our job as described herein. While we can not, and do not approve every loan brought to us, we can make that determination within 24 hours. Other companies may say they make that determination within minutes (with their computer), we however do need 24 hours; we are not so fast TO SAY NO; we want time to have the Underwriter look over and suggest other options, PERHAPS EVEN CALLING THE BORROWER TO TALK TO THEM PERSONALLY. Many times, when you hear the real problem, directly from the borrower, the Underwriter can find a way. Anyone can give you a NO in minutes, sometimes that YES is worth a few hours! Your ONE LOAN is very important to our continued success. We don't do checking accounts, or Credit Cards, or Car Loans; when you need a Mortgage to purchase or refinance your home, we will strive to be your 1st Preference.
