Does a warranty deed transfer ownership regardless of life rights statement
My husband and I were deeded his dad's farm with his dad retaining a life estate. His dad has now drawn up a "warranty deed" he wants us to sign that gives his daughter a "life time right" to live on a surveyed piece of property for a monetary sum of $10. Does the property still belong to us, or does the warranty deed give her title to the property that she can transfer to her children upon her death? It seems to be wordsmithing for a legitimate transfer of the property to me. Your thoughts?
