when he left we were behind in the mortgage , I had a friend who is a investor who caught the mortgage up for me and myself and my soon to be ex husband signed a quit claim deed. However the investor said he was not recording it and that once i paid him back he would just tear the papers up. myself and husband signed quit claim deed staying sold for 1.00 in front of notary for the investor the investor was not present at the signing. also the investor had me sign a lease but i never received a copy. the mortgage is still in mine and my soon to be ex's name . If i do not pay the investor as he calls it rent will I lose my house. I have been paying him and he has been paying the mortgage . Needless to say I pay the investor 1500.00 and the mortgage is only 903.00 . I dont know if I did the right thing:( we are located in baltimore Maryland. we signed a paper giving the mortgage company permission to speak to the investor .but nothing more

Hi lynn,
As you have signed the deed in the investor's favor, if you don't pay off the loan, he can record the deed and you may lose your property. You should contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this matter. He will let you know what the best step will be for you.
