Life insurance and estate

My friend’s husband recently died. He had a life insurance policy. He had certain debts. Will the life insurance policy be considered as a part of his estate or will my friend be able to claim it?

The life insurance policy will be considered as a part of the deceased person's estate. His debts will be paid off from that estate.

I agree with what James has said. The life insurance policy will become a part of the deceased husband's estate. All the creditors/lenders will claim their money from this estate.

It depends on who the beneficiary is.  If the beneficiary isn't responsible for the Estate, she can do whatever she wants with the proceeds.
