Should I sign modification

Should I sign modification

I helped a friend purchase a home and went to closing and signed all docuemtns as she did. Somehow the loan never showed on any of my credit reports. The problem is now she wants to get a modification and the bank is saying(she says) that I have to sign as well. If my name is not on the loan why do I have to sign for the modification? I plan on buying my home within the next 3 months and I don't want any problems.

If presently your name is not mentioned on the mortgage docs, then you don't have to sign the modification papers. You should speak to the lender and clarify the matter.

Yes, you're nowhere supposed to sign on the loan modification documents. Therefore you should ensure taking the right steps before taking the plunge.
