I just got engaged with my boyfriend a month ago, he is in America right now, I am still in China. we are thinking of buying a house together, he said he cannot add my name under the house without me being there to sign the paper in person, is that true? He is from South Carolina. Thank you.

In some states, the grantee should be present at the time of signing the deed. In case your husband can't add your name to the property deed now, you can go to South Carolina and then ask him to sign a new quitclaim deed and add your name to the property.
