Self Employed Income

Our mortgage lender is telling me that they can't consider my self-employed income because I don't have a 2 year consecutive history of this earning. I have worked for this same company for 8 years. 7 years as a salaried employee and now work remotely from a different state so I am now a 1099 employee. Is this correct that they don't have to consider my income?
