When I lost my home in foreclosure 7 yrs ago I do not believe a deficiency judgement was obtained

Can the PMI mortgage insurer still get a deficiency judgement? I understand that once gotten can be enforced for 10 years and renewed an additional 10 but how long to first get it? The home was in NH, sole property and single mortgage.
Recently received a collection notice from an atty/collector out of a different state demanding payment however no mention of a deficiency judgement. This is not the PMI Mortgage Co. contacting me but according to the letter someone retained by the agent of the PMI Mortgage Co. Do you think this is just a collection company that bought this debt and is not attempting to collect? I assume if they did have a deficiency judgement that is the first thing they would present to me. Any help is appreciated.

In order to clear out your doubts, you may may send them a debt validation letter and wait for their reply. As for the deficiency judgement, then your PMI mortgage insurer can obtain that to recover some of the money paid to you. This can happen even if your home has been foreclosed upon.
