is there any help for a 1st time buyer to get a mortgage with judgements

my husbands mother passed and him and the other surving siblings were left the home.. He is the only one that does not own a home.. We went to his mothers bank and spoke to them and when they ran our information they said they couldn't help because we have judgments.. My husband really wants his family home.. Is there anything we can do?
