Is it a normal procedures for my new lender to send me written checks for me to send to my creditors?

Is it a normal procedures for my new lender to send me written checks for me to send to my creditors?

I have just recently signed my documents for refinancing my home and I have consolidated my debts into my new loan. I have done this before with my previous refinancing but previous lender paid my debts by dealing with my creditors directly, rather than waiting around for checks in the mail from my new lender for me to send to my creditors. Please help as I have never done this before.
