How perfect does a house have to be to pass inspection for USDA guaranteed loan? We have looked at a few older houses and been told they will not pass for chipped paint, single pane windows, and cracked window in double pane so we have not even bothered with them. Would a house pass inspection if it needed to be repainted, new carpet, light covers, or cleanup outside from the last owner? We are looking at a fixer upper but don't want to waste our money on an inspection or this loan if they are going to be that picky. Would it be better to get a 203k loan and is it true that the interest rates and other fees are higher for a 203k?

Well... an appraiser will be able to better help you in this regard. He will let you know what steps you need to take in order to qualify the inspection for USDA guaranteed loan. You should contact an appraiser in this regard.
