I completed a short sale on my property in AZ in Dec 2010 but did not receive a 1099C on my first. My credit report as of Jan 2011 shows no debt owed on real estate and "settlement reached". Should I file taxes assuming that the debt was cancelled?

Hi Soop,

You should have a word with your CPA in this regard and then take a decision. If your debt has been cancelled, then you should receive a 1099c form from the lender.
