If my husband is filing Chapter 13 bankruptcy and we have no joint loans or accounts together...How does this affect my credit and my house?

It would not affect your credit since you have no loans together.

He will still be paying the bills on a Chapter 13 in most cases. So, as long as he does that the house will be ok.

Hi kei!

Welcome to forums!

As you do not have any joint accounts with him, your credit will not be affected. Moreover, as your husband is filing chapter 13, there is hardly any chance of losing the house if he makes the payments on time. To know more about Chapter 13, have a look at the given link:

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

Hi CHERYL!

Welcome to forums!

If you have filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy, you won't be able to get a loan immediately. You will have to wait for some time after your bankruptcy discharge to get a loan. In case of FHA loan, you need to wait for 1 year after your discharge and for conventional loan, you'll have to wait for 2 years.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
