We received a notice from the sheriff on our day that our house was going to auction on Oct 29, 2009. We filed bankruptcy in Feb, 2010 & was discharged in July 2010. The mortgage was discharged. BTW.. we moved out of the house in Feb 2010. We received property taxes on the house recently and called the bank. They said they didn't want the property and never went thru with the foreclosure and we have to sell the house now. How is this possible when they told us the house was going to auction but they never went thru with it and never notified us. Are we responsible?

Hi paulahdgs!

Welcome to forums!

If the property is still in your name, then you will be liable for paying off the property taxes on the house. You will be responsible for it as the owner of the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
