We filed chapter 7 nov 09 and discharged march 2010. Husband and I stated to lawyer we wanted reaffirmation paers. the mortgage company says they didnt recieve papers from court in nov. they finally knew about it after we went to meeting of creditors i asked my lawyer if we got reaffirm papers yet and he advised me no. then we still havent recieved them and now its been discharged. My lawyer told me as long as i keep making the payments they cant forclose. That i understand what i dont understand is what happens in the long run. after 30 years and its paid do i keep the house lien done? Does my name come off deed now that there isnt a reaffirm done? very confused...

As you haven't reaffirmed the loan, you are not personally liable for it. Though you pay the mortgage dues, it won't be reported to the credit bureaus. If you keep on paying the dues, your property won't be foreclosed by the lender. If you pay off the loan completely, then you would be able to save the property and own it free and clear. Your name won't come off the deed unless you surrender the property to the lender.

thank you for the info. that was my only concern will my payments be credited towards the note.. and once its paid lien comes off and we are still on deed.
