does a reaffirmation and loan modification mean the same and what is the difference

Reaffirmation and modification are not the same. The concept of debt reaffirmation comes in when you file chapter 7. However, loan modification is a different concept. You can apply for it when you are facing issues in paying off your loan. This will help you in getting a new payment plan wherein it will be affordable for you to clear off the dues.
