Hi drking!

Welcome to forums!

It is not true. If you want to keep your house after you had filed Chapter 7, you need to reaffirm the mortgage and pay off the dues on time. Reaffirmation of mortgage will make you personally liable for the loan.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

It actually depends on which state you live in. I'm going through this right now and in Ohio you don't have to sign a reaf agreement. HOWEVER, if your ever late on your mortgage or whatever, then you may lose your home. But at that point you walk away because the mortgage was discharged in the bankruptcy. I suggest you do some research for the laws in your state to make sure. Attorneys dont always give you the fine print! I've found out more from my own research than from my attorney. Good Luck.
