A failure to abide by the terms of any legal obligation or agreement is known as breach of contract. For example, Kris enters into an agreement with Jennifer that he will pay $4000 every month to her as rent for the house in which he is living at present. He was not able to pay the rent for the month of January and February. This failure is known as 'breach of contract'.
