I want to apply for a equity line of credit to pay my taxes ($10,000)
but my husband will not go on the loan with me. What can I do?
Can I apply for a line of credit on my own. Own my home for about 16 years, no 2nd mortgage. State of NC |

Hi latenitetraker,
If the property is in your name and if you have a good credit score and stable income, you can definitely apply for a home equity line of credit in your name. However, in order to get the mortgage, your property should have some equity.

Cal your current lender and check your options. As James said, you shoudl be able to apply for loan by your self.
The lender will need to get an apprisal done on your property to find the current value and see if you have some equity in the house to process your loan. |

latenite, i presume the home is in both your names? if so, you'd need your husband to assent in order to get a home equity loan. however, you may qualify for a personal loan of your own - rate would be higher, but it would provide you with what you wish to do.
are these real estate taxes or income taxes you need to pay? _________________ George M. Akerley

| Some times the personal loan rates may be higher due to fact that it will not have collatral. |
