Welcome janetm,

I don't think there is any rule stating that the POA agent would get paid. Also, it would depend upon the relation of the agent with the grantor and the duties involved. In normal family matters, the duties of attorney-in-fact are simple. So, no payment is provided. If the attorney-in-fact has to run a business or take care of complicated financial affairs, then the grantor can make payment to the POA. However, if payment is desired, then it should be mentioned in the power of attorney document.
