My home was hailed on this last summer.
Just before the storm I errected a shop building (my own money). All three buildings were insured before the storm. My Insurance paid for my home, shed and the shop. Sent me the check in mine and the mortgage co. name, I signed it and sent it to the mortgage co. Got an estimate from a contractor, He was not able to get the materials so I bought them with funds (first check from mortgage co. that came in both of our names. after tearing off and putting new roofs on my home and shed, I paid him the balnce of his labor costs. Then the second check from the mortgae co. came and i had him sign it and I deposited it.
The mortgage co. sent him a 1099 with the full amount of both checks and my name is on it to??????? How do I get him the right 1099?
Thx.

Hi Bee,

You should contact the lender and and request him to provide the correct 1099 form to the contractor.

Thanks
