mother lost home in tornado mortgage company doesnt have title to land/home where to get title?...My mother lost her home in a tornado a few weeks ago. I'm trying to get all the documents required for the insurance company to complete her claim. The mortgage company is not assisting at all. I had always thought when a home is destroyed it was the responsiblity of the mortgage and insurance company to talk directly to one another. Anyhow, the insurance company needs a copy of the land and home title. I have spoken with the mortgage company on 4 occasions but they have not sent the title. I have a feeling they have lost them. It is a mobile home and I don't know if that makes it any different than a regular house. What can I do or where can I go to get a copy of the titles? I need these titles in order to get the insurance check to pay off the mortgage. And I need it fast. My mom has been homeless living in a hotel room for two weeks now. It's sad she has lost everything. Please send me any guidance you have.

Welcome to forums!

You have to apply to the DMV of your state for a duplicate title of the mobile home. There is an application that has to be filled out for that. I would suggest you to contact the DMV and they will help you in getting a duplicate title.
