My name is on the deed; however, not on the loan; Am I allowed to use the mortgage interest when submitting tax return? how about the property tax paid.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Andrew

Hi avillena,

I'm afraid you will not be able to claim the mortgage interest deduction on your taxes. The person whose name is on the loan is responsible for the mortgage payments and only he/she can claim the mortgage interest deduction on the taxes. But you can claim the property taxes you paid since you are listed on the property deed.
