I have a home in Florida that finally sold at 74,000. Two years ago it was worth abouth 250,000. The tax assessor said i owed over three thousand dollars in property taxes (we also lost our homestead that year) and taxed me on a value of 128,000. for 2008. I am contesting the value I think it should be around 100,00 or 90. How can I get comparable house values for that year in my area as that is what the tax assessor says i have to give him. Shocked

You could have a reputable Realtor in your area do the research for you. You could also go to the assessors office and try to obtain that information yourself. It might even be possible for an appraiser to put some comparable sales together for you form that time frame. Sales are public record so the data is available and Realtors and Appraisers have the best access to that information.
