Hi Kevin

You need to contact HUD and check out the status of your section 8 application. You can get the correct information there.

Thanks.

Mr. Akerley This is true it is posted no where on-line but I think I get the ppl that is asking. I think that they are not getting any real answers from these receptionist that answer these phones for the section 8 units. Matter of fact I know for sure that's what's happening because I've contacted them quite a few times. They do give you, your number on the list but they will not tell you where they are at on the list. so in all true reality they are not giving you any info. I'm 263 on the waiting list and still haven't heard anything all my info is the same but no one has contact me. and when I call all they tell me is they are moving ppl in and this has been going on since march of "07" so they are not idiots the system is just messed up they should atleast have something online that helps so ppl don't call them as much.

hotgirl, that sounds terrible, but i appreciate your sharing.

unfortunately, this forum isn't designed to help people with section 8 questions, although i guess that we tell people who to contact is helpful in itself.

i would have thought the process would be a little bit friendlier for you.

tiffany, i am very sorry to hear of your situation. i honestly don't have any experience in dealing with section 8 or any other housing-type programs. i know that bureaucracy certainly gets in the way of progress but i also feel quite certain that there are caring, loving people who work in those sorts of jobs; they'd love to be able to put you in a home of your own.
i pray you'll find someone with a warm heart who can assist you. it is a very difficult time to be in your situation, and that's one of the problems that those who can help you also face. there are fewer programs, there is less money available, and there are so very many people in serious need of assistance. i'm not making excuses, i don't think, but i see homelessness as an extremely difficult problem to overcome virtually everywhere.
i hope an angel will appear out of nowhere for you - this week.

I just do not undestand this people!!! Why dont you pick up the phone and call the place where you applied? What make you think that a forum like this will give information on something they do not know about? Please, If you have the common sense to ask here...WHY DONT YOU CALL WHERE YOU APPLIED? WOW!!!

calm down, guest...it's not that big a deal. it's not that i disagree with your premise, but even what may seem like the dumbest questions to some deserve to be asked and answered.

Hi Angela and Carl,

You need to get in touch with your local housing authority. They are the ones who can provide you with the information regarding your section 8 application status. Have you contacted them? What do they say?

All you have to do is go to google and type in LACDC-housing authority(HA) it'll take you to the home page. then look in the program box located on the left side of the screen and you should see something like this...........apply/update/check status.....place the arow there and you will see the same thing pop up saying.....apply/update/check status click on that....it will then ask you to enter a prospect number but if you dont have one its ok just enter your social security number and your date of birth. Very Happy [/b]
