Post subject: 3 Tips to save money during the festive season |
|
|
Christmas and the New Year are knocking at the door. The well-decorated shopping malls must be quite tempting, isn't it? After all it's the festive season and all of us have planned to gift something or the other to the near and dear ones.
But what about the savings? While indulging in a shopping spree, we should keep it in mind that we are going through a financial crisis and it's important to save. Here are 3 tips from my end which may help you save your hard earned money:
Online shopping: Online shopping can be a good way to save money. If you buy the gift items online, you would be able to avoid your temptation for buying extras items at the malls. You can research the best prices for the gift items online and accordingly order the purchase.
Creative gifts: Your near and dear ones would care for the emotional value attached to the gift that you give them. The price of the gift would hardly matter to them. So, what about gifting your dearest wife with handmade scented candles? I'm sure she would love it and fall for you once again. Try gifting your kids the freshly baked cookies or handmade chocolates. They would be more than happy to receive them.
Gift fund: Open a gift fund (a savings account may be…) and start saving. If you open a savings account and do not withdraw money, you would be rewarded with bonus interest. Transfer the money in your transaction account when it is time to go shopping. You'll able to spend the money that you would have in your transaction account. If you've less money in your account, you won't be able to shop more. So, in the end you're saving!
So, how do you all plan to save in this festive season? Do share your saving tips with me. _________________ Good is the Enemy of Great. |

Hey Niicss, these are few tips from my end:
- Budgeting: It's important to set up a budget and stick to it. Do not buy extra items or go overboard in this festive season. If you stick to the budget, you would be able to save your hard earned money. Keep a track of all expenses and stay mindful of the budget.
- Decorations: You can use the last year's decorations to make something new. You may even use recycled holiday papers or wrap the gifts in magazine pages, Sunday comic pages or paper leftover from last year. This will make your gifts look unique and help you in saving your dollars.
- Rebates and coupons: A number of shops would offer different types of rebates during the festive season. Visit the outlet malls, dollar stores, thrift stores and get some good gift bargains.
