Hi

I live in California and moved in with my boyfriend about 4 years ago. He now wants to add my name to the property title. How can we do this without changing the property taxes and/or our individual income taxes? I have helped him on some of the house payments and some improvements to the house over the years.

We are not married and don't intend to do so in the near future.

Thanks.

MC in CA

Hi MC!

Welcome to Forums!

Your boyfriend can add your name to the title of the property with the help of a quitclaim deed. This will not change property taxes ir individual income taxes.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

Hi MC!

A quitclaim deed will solve the issue. You can collect a quitclaim deed form online or get it drafted by an attorney. Then you will have to record it in the county recorder's office.

Thanks,

Jerry
