I own a house with my wife and want to add my sister on the deed. I wanted to know if this will increase the property tax? Also, what would be the easiest and cost effective way to add her name to the deed? There is still a mortgage on the home and the house was recently appraised due to the fact it was just re-built.

Hi daymondluu,

You and your wife can sign a quit claim deed and add your sister to the property deed. After there is a change in the property ownership, the tax department will assess the taxes. There are chances that the taxes may increase by few dollars.

Thanks
