First, you need to find a suitable property. There are various websites, companies etc which offer the listings of such properties. Once you've chosen the property, you need to contact its owner who has legal rights to the property until it is sold off at the sheriff's auction. Then find out what the value of the property could be. Check out the prices the houses in the neighborhood were sold for and also consider the amount of time the property has been listed for sale. Once you've decided how much you're going to pay for it, make an offer and inform the lender about your intention of buying the house.
