Hi deizl!

Welcome to forums!

You will have to contact your city assessor's office and apply for homestead. They will be able to guide you regarding the documents that you will have to fill out in order to homestead your property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

sorry to butt in here, but what is "homestading" and how does it differ to a normal mortgage arrangement against land/buildings?

Hi thewretched,

Homestead exemption helps protect the value of the homes of residents from property taxes, creditors or certain conditions arising from the death of the homeowner spouse. A homestead exemption helps the homeowner to save the property from forced sale.
