Hi

This is good to hear that the Govt. of California has added some teeth to the anti loan modification scam laws. The way the number of such scams is inceasing by the day is alarming. Making the law more stringent seems to be the only way to tackle this problem. Hope, the Governments in other states also come up with strict anti loan modification scam laws.

Hi Paul,

I believe you are referring to this site :- http://www.dre.ca.gov/cons_drs.asp

I have checked this site and it is very good and informative. It provides all the information regarding the persons and entities who have been served with Refrain orders or Accusations for modification and foreclosure rescue activities. I believe this will help a lot of people in checking the credibility of these entities offering modification or foreclosure rescue services.

Thanks,

Jerry

Yes, I tried to post the link, but there's a feature here that blocks such links. Thus, I sounded it out and tricked the autobot computer.

I highly recommend Pre Paid Legal. I am in a similar situation with a company from Ohio and i am in WA. Mine gets a bit more complicated because I told the manager at my bank not to pay out any more money to these people and the bank still made two more payments of $1020.00 each.

As it stands right now, PPL is going after the bank for me to try and get back that money and also coaching me and writing letters to go after the company that ripped me off to begin with.

All of this is costing me a whopping $26.95 per month, so that is my recommendation. Even if they don't do the exact thing that you are having trouble with, they will give unlimited legal advice and if you need a specialized atorney, they can refer you to one in whatever state you need one in for 25% off the normal fees.

Check these links out:

Hope this helps,

i don't remember where it was - maybe here on MortgageFit - but i recently was told by someone that Prepaid Legal is valuable. i have always been skeptical about it (can you believe that???), and i've forgone opportunities to learn about them because i was simply a non-believer. the person who advised me gave me some pretty good concrete examples of what they had done for him (or her). i just don't remember the circumstances.

based on that, i will now say that maybe prepaid legal is worth looking into. witness this testimony up above...i guess they aren't so bad after all. i cannot give a strong recommendation as i have no first-hand knowledge, but i suppose it's worth investigating.

I had a loan mod contract with rmr and paid them $2995 also. They also told me not to make any payments. Later they changed their name to Aldrige Legal. They did nothing for me. Now I try to call them and they have changed all their numbers. I can find a website for Aldrige legal but its a log in site. can someone help.

Try to contact someone within the state government where this company was originally located to see what you can find out about their licensing situation. The Aldrige company may no longer exist but there may be another new one that has the same principals involved.

Check with the Attorney General's office in whatever state it is, also, and see if they don't already have a suit pending against this firm.
