I am uninsured and will have to pay for all of my medical expenses. If some emergency occurs and I have large medical bills and file bankruptcy will I lose my house. I live in CA and I do have equity in my house. I have kept up my payments even while on disability. I desperately need to know so I can sleep at night.

Hi ral,

If you file bankruptcy, you will have to list your property as an asset. As your property has some equity, the trustee may sell it off in order to repay your creditors.

Thanks
