I need to change my last name on my california home property (it's paid in full) and add my husband to the deed.

What do I need to do other than hire a lawyer (can't afford one).

Hi Debi,

You'll have to file a quitclaim deed changing your last name as well as adding your husband to the deed. You can get sample quitclaim deed forms online but it is always better to consult an attorney.

Once you fill out the deed, you'll have to notarize and record the deed at the county recorder's office.

Thanks

after submitting deed it is very important to natarised deed in country record office.
I will personally suggest go to lawyer and do not go byeonline form filling.
consult your lawyer is best option in my view.

As a first step, file a quitclaim deed. then go for notary and record the deed at the county recorder's office. Then changes will be reflected every where.
