My 2 brothers and myself own a home together. We each own 1/3. I would like to transfer my 3rd to one of the other owners so 1 brother will own 1/3 and the other 2/3's. My name is not on the mortgage. I just want to remove myself from the deed. We have owned the property together for 6 years. I got married 5 months ago. What would be the best way to remove my name off the deed and will my wife have to sign. we live in California.

Hi jesconstruc,

You can sign a quit claim deed and transfer your share of the property to one of your brothers. After you fill out the deed, you should notarize and record it at the county recorder's office in order to make the transfer valid. As you owned the property prior to your marriage, your wife will not have to sign the deed as per my knowledge.
