As far as I know, there is a minimum employment requirement as per the HUD rules which you need to satisfy in order to qualify for Section 8 Voucher.
According to the HUD regulations, at least one adult member who is a co-owner of the home should be employed full time currently. The same member should have been employed for 1 year prior to homeownership assistance.
Full time employment is defined by HUD as not less than an average of 30 hours per week. Any family member can be considered as employed even if he has been through a gap in employment, provided:
The employment gap doesn't exceed 30 calender days
There has been only 1 gap in employment for the past 12 months
The employment gap shouldn't take place within 3 months prior to applying for Section 8 voucher
As far as I know, nothing will be charged for the section 8 voucher program. However, you will be required to provide your children's birth certificates, your income proof and child support documentation.
