Question I received this pre-approved letter and the first opening sentence said "I think we missed something when you last called". Then it talks about taking the liberty to review my situation. Never called them and never talked to anyone from the company before I received the letter. I scredded the letter and haven't talked to anyone from AFS Financial, Inc.
Be careful!!!!

Hi Guest!

It's quite surprising that though you did not speak to them, they had sent you a pre-approval letter. If you are planning to take a loan, I would suggest you to speak to the lenders personally and then take a decision.

before you jump to conclusions they are affiliated with all of the organizations mentioned. They are under their legal name Advanced Financial Services. Please check your facts before you risk libeling a company

Hi tami,

Though I have not contacted the company, I have never heard anything bad about them. As far as the hidden costs are concerned, one should always check them before closing on a loan, no matter whether one is dealing with AFS or any other company.

We closed, there were no hidden fees. received all information on cost before closing. GA is a attorney state for closing, so the attorney came to house to close. Official website is myafsloan.

I read ALL 7 pages of this blog because we, also, received the mailing. I looked up AFS Advanced Financial Services, Inc. - the result was " not found ". This was on the BBB National website, and I also included the 02842 zip. I then dropped the AFS and got the street address and much information. There is a lot of info there, and I suggest that, if you are considering them, you check it out for yourself on the BBB.com National website. There were 48 complaints in the last 36 months. Also the BBB says that ... " Advanced Financial Services, Inc. is not a BBB Accredited Business. The business is currently circulating marketing materials stating that they are associated with BBB. The business does not have permission to use the BBB's name and/or logo in their advertising and marketing materials." That is a quote from the BBB report. I hope this helps someone.

Post     Post subject: AFS Solicitation

We received an invitation to apply for a loan from AFS (Apr 3,2009). If the invitation is true it is a 5.00 % loan for payment of mortgage and loan consolidaton. It sounds good. Does anyone have any recent info on this company. I am sick of trying to be scammed!

I got a letter to day so I called them they said I was approved and all they needed to do is send a appraiser to appraise my house and it would cost $300 they asked for my credit so I could pay for the appraiser that is where the red flag was raised. Not sure if they are legit. looking for somebody that has worked with them

We live in GA, was very happy with our loan officer Macken. So take it as you want. There were no other fees up front except appraisal fee. There is 3 physical locations if you want to drive there. Post     Post subject: AFS financial offer

We, too, received such an offer. They make it sound good, even linking to FHA, until -- we are requested to reply within three days. That's what sent up my warning flag. Cons almost always use the ACT FAST approach. Would a reputable lender say, "If we do not receive your acceptance, we must offer this money to another homeowner"? I say, "Okay. Do that."

Post     Post subject: AFS pre-approval

I also received a pre-approval notice. I looked at it thinking it would be great to bundle everything and pay it all at once. I thought it would be great to pay one lower interest rate for all my payments. But I too found it to be a mortgage re-fi. In which case, my current rate is better.
