It might be different-different experience of people about Brett Margolin Law PC, but for me it is great.
Brett Margolin Law PC helped me save my home when I was in deep trouble due to financial crisis, by helping me they make my mortgage payments affordable. I am gratefully to this firm and their experts. Keep it up.

We were in leiu of foreclosure when we contacted American Home Crisis Center. They put us in touch with the Law Firm Of Brett Margolin. They Scammed us for $2500.00. They did not obtain a modification from our Lender. They made one phone call to our lender, only to find out our lender was in the process of modifiying our loan. They took full credit for this modification. When asked for proof we got the run around. No one in that office could prove what their process was. We were yelled at and lied to by this Law office. Please, Please take our advice and DO NOT USE THIS LAW FIRM, IT IS A SCAM. Also do not call American Home Crisis Center. That got us into this mess.

This office is a scam. They are in the buss. of collecting in a predatory manner from people all over the USA. They are taking advantage of good people's money, by stealing it right out of your bank account. Their contract has provisions to protect them, but not you. DO NOT pay up front as this practice of collecting upfront fees is in direct violation of NY state law. They are not to charge or collect upfront fees prior to completion of services rendered;I paid upfront as directed by the law office. Now I have the task of getting a refund which is not forthcomming. They brieched their own contract. Be careful/ do not pay upfront fees.

What a joke, this office is nothing but a false hope for people that are having difficulties w/ their lenders. They collect as much as they can upfront and will not refund any of the stolen money as it is their policy to get and not give back. This law office should be sued by all of their victims in these predatory practices. A class action suit is inevadable & I would like to be included.

Would like to know if anyone has had first hand experience with the
Law Office of Brett Margolin, Middle Country Road in Centereach Long Island New York in the Loan Modification process. It seems to be that the Corporate name "The Law Offices of Brett Margolin" is used thoughout the country. Is it a franchise? As we search the internet, we are hearing mixed reviews about "Brett Margolin" but it seems they are all over the place scamming. When we placed a file request to the BBB, under the name and the Centereach address they had 25 complaints on file. Please respond

Yes. I retained them a year and a half ago. They guarantee a modification in their retainer fee agreement with your lender. But ultimately that is not the case. It is the lender that has the final say. After a year and a half of waiting for the modification, B of A denied the modification. So, now I am trying to get the retainer fee refunded back to me. According to the agreement they will refund the fee. So, far, I have not received any response from them.

My recommendation is do not pay upfront fees.

The best thing to do is to have someone at the lender explain the documents to you if you do not understand them. Why don't you understand them? Contact the Attorney General's office if you cannot get a hold of anyone, also the FTC has passed a new law no ONE can collect up front fees! You can visit their website or our blog page to read more. That maybe the reason why you cannot get a hold of anyone. Usually the Attorney Generals website will have news of any firms under investigation. I know here in Florida that is how it works. Modification experiences range from nightmares to pleasant ville, however, it never is the same for two people... Usually because there are different people involved and different lenders. Do not feel so bad, it will get better. You need to take control and contact your lender or call the HOPE hotline and ask for guidance. There is no need to pay thousands of dollars for something you can get help with on your own!

Good luck !

I too retained the Brett Margolin Law Firm to attemp to get my interst rates reduced with a gaurantee of a refund of $4,000 if they were not successful. That was a year ago and I only received one piece of correspondence form my mortgage company that my case was being closed due to lack of documentaion. (I sent the law firm everything that was asked for in a prompt manner) Nneedless to say I asked for a refund and have heard nothing from them after repeated requests. I would not recommend them to anyone.

DO NOT USE LAW OFFICE OF BRETT MARGOLIN.... They do not work hard to get you the best deal. They tell you things that TRUST us we can and will get you the best deal. Well, We are paying a higher payment and they locked our interest rate in from when we signed the loan 4 years ago. They do not call you, you always have to call them. I was told that we should be happy with the deal that we got and they made it sound like we wouldn't get a better deal which they didn't fight for one. When we received the loan modification papers I didn't really understand what they were wanting so I e-mailed then to the assistant and she then told me what the mortgage company was wanting regarding the trial period. So I went with what the attorneys office said and now we are being told that she was wrong and the payments were wrong and the mortgage company is stating that we are behind again and I have been maiking payments every month. Come to find out the 2 and 3rd payments were made incorrectly because of Brett Margolin's office telling us that is the way that they are suppose to be and now we are suppose to come up with the extra money to make up the payments. More or less we got the raw end of the deal on this and no-one will admit that they did wrong and refund the money so that we can put that towards the amount that the mortgage company is stating that we are behind. You will be sorry if you would even suggest this company to handle your loan modification...

I was suckered in by this Law Group well over a year ago. I only continue because I have no choice but to try and salvage something good out of all this... but otherwise I have written it off as a 2000.00 loss.

Regardless of how promising the benefits may seem, stay as far away from the Brett Margolin Law Office as you can.

I retained his law firm to work with Chase for a loan modification over a year ago. Shortly after I paid my file was sent to your Florida office. At that office I was assigned about 4 different paralegals within a ten month period. Each of them never completing my follow up. I had to hunt them down in order to get some information from them.

Eventually, I was told Brett Margolin no longer has an office in Florida. My file was send back to the New York Office.

My latest hunt provided me a name and a number of a woman I spoke to only once, a month ago. Her name was Tiffany and she said she has my file and will do follow up......

follow up...follow up....follow up

A year and a half later my loan has still not been reviewed and I am facing foreclosure. I tried to tell Tiffany that I need something in writing to let the Chase lawyers know my loan is up for review, thereby postponing the procedure of foreclosure.

No one is doing anything about our loan modification. I hear a lot of bells and whistles about different programs for the people in my situation and yet still nothing.

I am a single mom supporting a teenage daughter in college and a sick mom that is staying with me.
I am frightened and scared. This foreclosure papers keep coming and I don't know where we will wind up by the year end..

PLEASE HELP.....

Hi Mary,

It would have been better if you would have contacted the lender and applied for a loan modification with the lender. The lender would have checked your financial situation and let you know whether or not you will qualify for it. You shouldn't have gone for that law firm.
