The more you know about the individual and company you are doing business with the more your comfort level should go up. If you have any questions the loan officer should be able to answer all of them so please ask.

As Eric suggested the company you well known will or persons you well aware off are more comfortable for doing the business with.

One benefit of such situation is that the known person will definately helps and understands the situation n business needs.
