Hi blyheid,

As you are late on your mortgage payments, the lender will not be ready to refinance your loan. In case, you want to refinance the loan, you will have to pay off the past due amount to the lender along with the late fees.

In my opinion, you should speak to the lender about a loan modification. If the lender accepts your loan modification, you can pay off the loan according to the new payment plan. As you would be modifying the loan, you won't be able to add your daughter to the mortgage right now.

Thanks

NACA would potentially refi the loan - most likely including the arrearage quoted in the payoff given by the current note holder/servicer - at a usually relatively low fixed rate. Even with the arrearage included, if someone like Bly had an ARM, a NACA refi could significantly lower their payments...

I am also astonished to know how the poster is asking about the credentials of NACA.com for this post where apparently it is nowhere in picture.

Have you availed any services from NACA.com in past? If that is the case then you can clearly mention about that otherwise this is not good to malign the image of a good website.

i don't think anyone here has tried to "malign the image of a good website."
in re-reading now, i have a feeling that our original poster may have had a discussion with naca and was offered, perhaps, an opportunity to refinance at a rate below 5%, as stated. that would, perhaps again, to question if anyone has experience with naca that might be beneficial to know about.

it kind of makes a little sense to me now. mike - thanks for your insight here - that gave me pause to think about this a little more.

You should contact your lender and clarify as to why they didn't accept your modification request. As far as NACA is concerned, you should inform them that you need to refinance your loan. They would judge you situation and let you know whether or not you qualify for the same.

I just saw NACA on the Ch4 News. They are in LA for the next 4 days to assist homeowners with refi or modifying home loans. I have been trying but keep getting NO's, I would love to remodify my loan to lower pymt, but I guess I have to go to LA and stand in line for hours just to find out if I quailfy? Has anyone heard of this process?

Hi Suzi,

As far as I know, NACA organizes loan modification events in various states. You need to contact NACA and get to know whether or not they are planning to organize such an event in your state. If they do so in future, then you can apply for a loan modification.

I went to naca in LA yesterday. Naca was able to modify my loan to 2% for the life of the 28 year loan. The best thing ever happened to me. They're in LA until Monday.
