My Husband is a disabled Vet and we are behind in our payments to our lender. I Saw this ad on tv and gave usmac a call. They wanted $2995.00 upfront! I am desprate to save our home we are a young family and I have prayed for a way to fix this problem. I had a gut feeling about this company and looked them up on the internet and everything I have found has been negative. We face forclosure on August 4th 2009. VA is zero help!!Suprise Suprise. Im hoping to either get somewhere with the lender or another lending company. We have been struggling for a year and now my husband has 7 surgeries under his belt and is thankfully back to work, so if anyone has any suggestions or comments please do. But, My gut says they are crooks and I would pay them never see a dime back and loose our home as well!!!

Hi vanessa,

Though I do not have a personal experience with USMAC law group, it seems that lots of people have complaints about them. It would be better if you could check out some other companies who are into loan modification and know about their fees. May be you can come across companies who would charge you a lesser amount than what USMAC have quoted. You can even go for a no obligation free consultation on loan modification which may help you know what type of rates and terms you can get after your modification is accepted.

once again - go to hud.gov and look for counselors in your area. they are FREE - yes, i will say it again - FREE - and they will help you. as an example, if you have a local Urban League, you can contact them right away and they'll try to work with you and the lender to get your loan modified. there's no guarantees, remember, but they'll work with you.

paying someone over $2500 to hope and pray that they'll help you hasn't got anything to do with the wisdom that you've been given.

Give me a break... would you work for someone that has not paid their mortgage or creditors and then expect them to pay you for your 100 plus hours of work after you completed your work? Hmmm... no I didn't think so.
And for credit repair... expensive?? Now that you lived above your means for so long and charged more then you could afford to pay now you want someone to fix it for free... if it's so easy then do it yourself or seek free help as some of the Bozo's on here suggest.

There is no free help!

If you want legal help and the best possible results hire the best pay attorney you can afford. If you were arrested you would hire the best pay attorney you could afford, and would he charge you upfront... you bet ya!

i reiterate...there are hundreds of counselors listed on the hud website. those counselors do it for free. naca has free counseling services. these people are there to help borrowers who cannot go through the modification maze by themselves. they have expertise - after all, they've been doing this for a long, long time.

paying up front for someone to pretend to help you with a modification? and how smart would that be, after all. let's see...i am a homeowner and my mortgage payment is $1850 per month. let's say i get behind 2 months - so now i owe $3700 and another $1850 is due - thats $5550. am i now smart to hand over $2000 or more to some stranger who claims to have a superior percentage rate for success? could i not do something better with that money? maybe i could take my money, borrow some from somewhere else and make my payment. but guess what...if i pay this oh so helpful company its $2000 or more, i will never see it again - not as payment of principal on my mortgage, certainly not as equity built up in my home, and i certainly stand an excellent chance of not having my loan modified at all.

to lose one's home while lining the pockets of those who have opened their businesses only to take advantage of this major money-making opportunity is the height of ridiculousness.

that's just my opinion.

Happyness365 has made some good points... and as an attorney... let me add that SB 94 should scare the heck out of the California public (and any other states with such bright ideas)... it will, in effect, keep private (read as for profit) attorneys from helping troubled borrowers (read as victims of the banks about to be revictimized by the banks).

The banks have high priced and sharp lawyers, why don't they want the public to have lawyers? Let's introduce SB 94 part B which states no lender can pay a lawyer until after the bank has completed screwing over the borrower... sounds ridiculous right? Why would it not be ridiculous to prohibit the public from paying a lawyer up front?

Just my opinion, of course.

Hi Guest,

I do not have a personal experience with this company but some of the members in this forum have negative opinion about this company. I would suggest you to research about this company properly and then go for a deal with them.

Thanks
Lou

I used them 4 months ago and they did get me a modification with good results. My old rate was 8.775 and me new rate is 4.500 fixed. My loan amount was reduced too. So for me it worked out good.
