Can credit card company place lien on Social Security Check?

Like 0 Dislike 0 Can credit card company place a lien on social security check? I am on disability and social security is the only income I live on. I do not think that a credit card company can place a lien on your social security check. If you are delinquent on Federal tax then only the Government may garnish it. Best of luck, Larry

Social Security benefits are exempted from execution, attachments, garnishment, bankruptcy or insolvency laws or any legal procedure. The bank can stop the garnishment, only if they know it a head of time. goodluck.

MARYLOU KROEGER Guest	Posted: Sat Jul 05, 2008 11:15 am    Post subject: CREDIT CARD LIENS Like 0 Dislike 0 If you owe money for credit cards and cannot afford to pay it back because you are not working and are living on ss, if you were able to save a little in your savings account little by little, can you attach your monies in that account if it is joint ownership. Also if you own your car outright (1999) can they put a lien on that as well? Thank you

You should try to pay the credit card debts as the interest rates of credit card debts are very high. If you don't pay it off then they can place lien on your properties and even on your car.
