what shows good credit history. I have good accounts from 1998 on my report. I am in the process of disputing some inaccurate information and accounts that have been paid in full. I just want to know if I should have accounts from 1998,1999 removed. We are looking to buy our first home and have worked very hard to pay off some negative info.

If there are no major derogatory marks on your credit report like charge offs, lates, previous foreclosure or bankruptcy, collection accounts ... then it will be considered that you are in good financial position. Your loan approval will be faster because of the clean credit history you have.

From the details you have provided it seems your overall credit profile has been good except for a few wrong entries which you are disputing and trying to get them removed from your report.

At the time you apply for a mortgage they will basically look at credit profile for the last 2 years and how your payments have been on the debts you had. If you are regular with the payments then you are in a favorable position.

As these are good accounts, you should not close them. They are positive entries in your credit record which improves your creditworthiness.

Hi Jc,

When you have overall good credit history, you will not face much difficulty in obtaining a loan. Lenders generally look at the borrower's credit profile for the past 2-3 years. If the credit history of that period is well built, then there is no problem for you to get the loan.

Hi nacy!

Welcome to forums!

It's quite surprising that the credit bureau has removed the loan payoffs from your credit report. Did you speak to the credit bureau about this? I think you should speak to them and they would clarify the whole thing to you.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
