Hi I just found this site, and it's great. I have a credit score of 596 and my husband has 503. I am unemployed, but am getting unemployment and husband has been at his job for almost 4 years. Would the best action be to work on credit first, or try for a home loan? we haven't attempted to try at all yet and are just getting serious about wanting to own a home and taking the steps to make that happen.

Thanks for your input

You should definitely work on your credit first. In addition, you will need to get a job if your income is needed to qualify.

Hi Guest!

Welcome to forums!

I agree with Eric. You and your husband will have to work on your credit scores first if you want to qualify for a loan. As your husband has a job, he should rebuild his credit score so that it is more than 600. This will help him qualify for the loan. You can also work on your credit so that it reaches above 620 and get a job for yourself. Once you do so, it would be easier for you to get a loan.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
