When derogatory comments drop of credit score increases right? Also wanted to know what happens when positive comments drop off, does this decrease your score? I have some positives about to drop off and some negatives that are still hanging in there, will this lower my score?

Anything dropping off your credit report will have an effect. Positives dropping off will lower, negatives dropping will increase your score.

Hi Jbarto,

Welcome to the forums.

Derogatory remarks on the credit report do have a negative effect on the credit score. Positive comments dropping off will reduce your score. But what type of derogatory remarks are you talking about?

I am mainly referring to old credit card bills, I have since settled and paid them off, I have a ton of positives that will be falling off soon also. So really, the only thing that is gonna help me is keeping up with my credit right now current and hopefully the derogatories will fall off at the same rate or slower than the positives.

removing OLD accounts from your credit report will have a NEGATIVE impact on your score. If you have collections or bankruptcies, and it's the oldest accounts on your credit report you will see your score drop when it's removed.

The credit score heavily relies on history of your credit report...and if you have all new history then your score wont be that high.

Make sure to dispute negatives starting within 12months...then 24months.

A lot of ppl are removing collections then their score drops dramatically.

DO NOT REMOVE POSITIVE INFO....you will lower your score dramatically ESPECIALLY if you have more negative items than positive
