What is a good source to check ones credit scores? I have subscription to truecredit, but from what I understand those are FAKO scores.

Hi Gabe,

Welcome to the forum.

FAKO score is different from FICO scores and lenders do not use FAKO scores to approve your loan. You can get your FICO score from Equifax, Experian, or Transunion. These are the top three credit reporting agencies but sometimes the scores offered from these credit reporting agencies varies.

Best of luck,
Larry

Gabe,

The best thing is to check your credit report and score at "http://www.annualcreditreport.com/" .

FAKO score is what the credit bureaus provide you with. This is an estimated score and close to what the FICO score may turn out to be. But the exact FICO score can be calculated only by "myfico.com" as they have a very secret formula.

If you wish to improve your credit, use the FICO score as your basis. Once the FICO score increases, the FAKO scores will also go up.

Regarding which scores lenders approve, well they look into the scores offered by the bureaus or "myfico.com" and this depends upon the companies with whom they have business relations.

Regards,

Jessica.

You can purchase your report and score at myFICO.com easily. I like annualcreditreport.com since it is free for the report, but it is complicated to receive, in my opinion.
I don't like TrueCredit, for the reason you describe -- also, you can't talk to anyone about your report.[/center]

you will try to pull one report from each of the different ones over a period of time, like a few months a part and you will then have the year about covered. I usually print the report and write the date on top and file it so that I know when I can pull it again. Since there are three I don't want to get them confused so make sure you do some type of noting to know. goodluck.
