PNC bank called my hubby and I 2 days ago to tell us that we were owing 14000!!!!! They advised that because my brother had defaulted on a credit card...that WE owed the money...we asked how they thought that was possible and they informed us that we were "co-titled"!!!! My hubby and I never once co-signed anything with my brother...nothing, zilch, nada..... he will not return my calls so I am very very worried Why would someone add you to an existing credit card as responsible payor?? Do credit card companies require that now? The bank did tell us we have not always been on the account, but have not determined when we were added... if we did not sign on this account, how can PNC hold us accountable? Do I have to have to hire an attorney to prove we are innocent!!!! I did get an email that from my sister in law that said, Sorry for the mess. ___ wants you to call him so that he can explain.... hmmmm so far I have left a voice message and another facebook and still no response... We are working with the PNC bank fraud dept since we told them we never knew about this account and that it did not ever show up on any of our credit reports--what else can we do?? We cannot afford to pay this? We had no knowledge of this until thursday and they are getting ready to charge it off as a bad debt???

Seems like possible fraud on your brother. He may have added your husbands info as an authorized user and depending on how they report to the CBA it may not have showed up. If and IF he added your husband as an authorized user only YOU OWE NOTHING. However if he tried to do it as a joint account (false signature SSN etc) then you will need to fight it as fraud
