it is that easy...I'm writing from experience.

"Establishing new accounts and paying them on time is the only way to really increase your credit score." Only applies if you have no negative accounts on your credit file.

even the smallest of accounts can benefit you as long as they report to your credit report. I started a fingerhut account just to get some positive reports on mine, I keep the balance low and keep the payments made monthly.

that is a longterm goal. You wont get a huge increase in score overnight. Also, I have had borrowers open Fingerhut accounts, but they were only reporting to Equifax. You will need a company that reports to all 3 bureaus

I know, but it is a start for now, do you have any other suggestions? Do you know what companies would report to all three?

Do you know which credit reporting that is pulled the most? I have often wondered this, do companies prefer one credit reporting agency over the others?

Any advice would be appreciated. Very Happy

I would recommend to stay away from Premier.
BofA has a good secure credit card. I would also recommend store cards and gas cards.

There's no preference in any of the 3 bureaus

Thanks for the recommendations, I don't know that I would qualify for anything right now, I wish there was something besides fingerhut though, feel like I am just treading water when it comes to improving my score, I know it is a long process, but my god, it is rough.

Good advise about staying away from premiere. They are outrageous in interest and hard to deal with.
