i'm trying to get a loan through usda to have a house built. my credit report showed a judgement. the judgement was paid about 4 years ago. i got a print out from the courthouse saying that it was paid in full. will the judgement stay on record at the courthouse and if so will the lawyer close on my loan?
Hi jessicaclark!

Welcome to forums!

Any negative item will remain on your credit report for 7 years. However, as you have paid off the judgment, you can contact your creditor and request him to remove it from your credit report.

not so, sussane. creditors do not report judgments on credit report. judgments are public record, and that information is picked up by the individual credit agencies. once the judgment has been released appropriately, the agencies will pick this up as well and update the reporting information accordingly.

as for the poster's question...yes your lawyer ought to be able to close your loan with no problem inasmuch as you are able to document that the judgment has been satisfied.
