Hi Bhutton,

Welcome to MortgageFit Forums.

You can refinance your mortgage after a bankruptcy. Some disadvantages may be there as a bankruptcy damages your score severely.

But, you shouldn't have a big problem if you have already maintained a good payment history and established a good credit history.

You may shop around for the rates with different lenders and also the fees charged by them. If you wish we may do necessary search for you and help you to get the most appropriate lender.

That requires some more financial details of yours to proceed further like the score that you have, the debts and your income.

For further reference on refinance after bankruptcy, you can check here.

Feel free to ask if you have more queries.

God bless you.

For MortgageFit,
Samantha

I would like to know what kind of bankruptcy you had. Was it a chapter 7 or a chapter 13? In case of a chapter 7 discharge, you can go for a refinance a day after the discharge.

For a chapter 13 refinance may be able to refinance as little as 12 months from filing. There are lenders available who will be ready to refinance your mortgage. For the best rates shopping around and comparing the terms are required.

Refinancing a second mortgage as well as the first mortgage is possible with 10 months already passed after a bankruptcy discharge but you may have to obtain the quotes of different lenders and then decide.
