Hi Tuami

Welcome to the forums.

This is one question which most of the people ask me. Now, if you’re convinced already about the merits of credit repair and just wondering what are steps you should take to fix it then the 1st thing you should do is

  • Get the copy of your credit report from all the three major credit bureaus in the country; Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
  • Try to correct any duplicate or dispute entries if any.
  • Make a resolution in your life that you won't be late on any payments.
  • Try to reduce the loan balances to less than 80% against high credit limits. Over 80% on balances kills good credit score.

These are the few basic points you should start following it. I hope with time things will improve for you.

Thanks

The best way to fix credit is to manage it more responsibly. It is always important to understand what goes into the calculation and how much each factor is weighted.

Always try to pay bills on time and don't open lots of new accounts over a short time period. If you can pay your credit card or installment loan balances on time then it will also help you in building your credit.

May be after going through this article, the 1st question that will come mind will be

"HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO IMPROVE MY CREDIT SCORE?"

The answer is - always remember that negative items affect more quickly than positive items on your score. If you get more practical and managerial in terms of paying your bills then it will take 6 to 12 months to generate a significant improvement in your score. Again it depends how you proceed.

Hope I have been able to guide you. Please fell free if you need and further assistance.

Adonis
